I suggest you buy a starview next time around so, have to say, you complain over the most stupid of things, if ya all only had Sv you defo have somit to complain about then.

I think been able to watch the programs over epg would be for me, against been able to have an epg on Sv and no channels.

no contest!

there is a really good channel guide on the kryptview, it just seems to be hidden for some reason....

press EPG -> weekly or daily epg -> info -> back x 2

this should be the one that appears when you press OK IMO.

Seems to be a few people complaining about the EPG here but not explaining why. How can the software developers be expected to know whats wrong if nobody actually bother to explain the problem. Simply describing it as 'outdated' doesn't say anything constructive !

As far as I can see it works fine. It displays what it needs to display. How could it be improved bearing in mind the constraints of a fairly small display window and a fairly large amount of info ?

If your going to complain about a user interface then lets have some suggestions as to what you think might be better.

Constructive citicism and suggestions are far more likely to get you a change than just a few gripes.

There's nothing wrong with the menu, then again the last box I had was the Eurovox So KV is a nice surprise.

If you see my post regarding the 'secret' epg above, that is my suggestion to how it should be.
I also gave constructive feedback when I first got the KV in this post - Shiny new Kryptview..feedback & question

see, some of us are helpful

well i agree with clio, the main thing is the channels are working and i get a picture to watch.

for me things i dont like in the menu setup are

1. i dont like when you are in a category, say it on the kids category and you want to watch sky news and you know the channel no. off your head it won't you you type it in and take you to that channel, instead you have to go to the news category or total channel list to select or key it in.

2. i think now and next you should be able to scroll up to midnight, instead of going into the epg to scroll up to see wot else is on in the next few hours on that channel.

3. it would be nice when in the epg you can press a button to preview a channel you are looking up instead of pressing ok and it takes you to that channel and out of the epg, and then you have to press last and go back to the original channel you was watching. for me i would like it if you went in the epg and scroll down the list and press ok and it showed that channel in the mini window and then if you press back button it will take you back to normal viewing on ur orignal channel, and when in epg you press ok once to preview channel and ok twice to go to the channel.

i hope that makes sense guys.

i know they are minute things iam moaning about but sometimes it grinds my gears lol.

tbh the box does the job and the main thing is it works, but i think a few tweaks in the gui menus' etc would polish the box off nice.

Whilst thats probably technically possible with some code you have to remember that the "Now & Next" data is transmitted as a seperate entity to the normal EPG data by pretty much all providers. I suspect that KV, along with most other boxes, are simply displaying the data thats actually transmitted by the "Now & Next" data packets.

The original function of now/next was meant to provide a method of giving much more detailed info on the programs presently being shown or about to start showing. Unfortunately, a lot of providers & channels simply repeat the somewhat shorter EPG info.

hmm, thats an interesting one !

I can see why you would want that but I can also see why KV have chosen to do what they have done.

The EPG functions on most boxes are effectively an implementation of a mini database. When you have a sub-view open (ie Kids-programs) then only the channels relevant to that catagory are listed so only those channel No's are actually available to the box for verification. If you type a number thats outside those in the category then they cannot be verified to that sub-view, hence they are rejected.

What you want is a sub-view thats visible but also leaving the full view info available so all valid channel No's could be entered and verified. Obviously having two EPG views open would take more memory and I suspect that may well be a problem.

Yeh, that is a bit clumsy so what you suggest sounds like it may be a good idea.
