Default Toshiba pal 60 problem with xbox 360

my xbox 360 has been working on my toshiba tv for months but recently started to flicker with several overlapping images making it unplayable. I managed to get to settings and change it to pal 50 which is the only other option, which resolves the screen issue but means I can't play any games as they are not compatible with pal 50.

The xbox works on other tvs ( goodman and bush tvs) but not the tv I need itnto work on, which is a toshiba. The toshiba is the newest of the three so it's age is not the problem.

Why has it suddenly stopped working on 60 and how do I solve it? help is much appreciated.

I am posting this in the xbox section as well, but thought I may get an answer here too

The tv is a toshiba rc3910.

It's an xbox 360 elite with the generic leads, with only the red white yellow cords on scart.

I connect to the other tvs in exactly the same way.

I've looked through the menus for the tv and can't find anything relevant. On the xbox support it tells you to look for Contrast detection/motion sensing or another similarly named feature on the tv but can't find anything like that.

I've tried all the things the xbox support says on the matter, hope anyone can help.

You're connecting to TV using the worst method for picture quality, composite video (yellow plug) this is probably also a problem for the signal interpretation of your TV.. Your TV is maybe only designed for PAL 50hz Video input via Composite, not all TV's can accept PAL 60, but maybe your TV will work fine with PAL 60 input via fully wired RGB scart lead..

What I'd suggest is you spend a few quid on ebay and buy a proper 360 RGB Cable ..

Ebay - Xbox 360 RGB Scart Cable

It will not only provide you with a vastly superior picture quality but also hopefully sort out your signal issues when throwing 60hz at your TV..
