I use this receiver solely for watching news links (I might have actually been badly advised but I am struggling on).
Anyway, to watch links I often need to enter different Symbol Rates for the SAME transponder. For example I might have a Hispasat transponder already tuned to say 12,725GHz at 6750MS/s when the same transponder opens up with a Symbol Rate of say 5632MS/s. When I try to enter and then scan for the channel I am told that there is an existing transponder set up with the first details and I cannot change them. So I have to completely delete the transponder and then re-enter all its details again. By the time this is done the link has finished! So what am I doing wrong please, and is there a way with this RX to scan for the active Symbol rate on a certain transponder? I know that I can scan the whole satellite but this take literally an hour or more! I suppose what I really want is to be able to set up each transponder with the likely Symbol Rates set so that I can quickly scan through. This seems impossible. What am I doing wrong please, or have I just bought the wrong RX? Rob. |

Enter a new transponder with a frequency +/- 1 from the existing one, eg 12750 5632 and 12751 6111 - that's how I do it

Thanks for that suggestion which is so obvious (when you think about it ;-). How far can I go and still get a lock? How about scanning a single frequency (without scanning a complete bird) for different symbol rates, is that possible with this model?
Oh, and what is the best model from this make for what I want to use it for (links)? I like the sensitivity and design, it's just very, very, slooow! Rob. |
