Default Schematic needed for a 3 way and off toggle.

I am looking for a simple circuit to toggle between 3 circuits and off using a single contacts normally open switch.

What I mean is a single button.

Press it once to turn on circuit 1. Press it again to turn off circuit 1 and turn on circuit 2. Press it again to turn off circuit 2 and turn on circuit 3. press it again to turn off circuit 3. Press it again and it will turn on circuit 1.

OR...

To have 3 contacts normally open switches 1, 2, and 3.

Press switch 1 to turn off whatever circuit is live (2 or 3) and turn on circuit 1. Press switch 1 to turn off circuit 1.

Press switch 2 to turn off whatever circuit is live (1 or 3) and turn on circuit 2. Press switch 2 to turn off circuit 2.

Press switch 3 to turn off whatever circuit is live (1 or 2) and turn on circuit 3. Press switch 3 to turn off circuit 3.

OR...

To have 4 contacts normally open switches 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Press switch 1 to turn off all circuits.

Press switch 2 to turn off whichever circuit is live (2 or 3) and turn on circuit 1.

Press switch 3 to turn off whichever circuit is live (1 or 3) and turn on circuit 2.

Press switch 4 to turn off whichever circuit is live (1 or 2) and turn on circuit 3.

This is to modify a circuit where I currently have a 4 way toggle switch, circuit 1, circuit 2, circuit 3 and off.

I hope you all understand.

Hi,

you need a cmos counter such as the 4017..then add the control portion onto the output.
Not clear from your post what the loading is on each circuit ie do these need to be switched via relay?

any case check out this link for 4017 uses
Handy dandy little circuit #34

and for relay control using logic
Controlling Relays with Logic signals.

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I am controlling relays. I will check the links when I have a little more time.

Hi this shoulkd solve your problem.
Use a standard 3gang 2way domestic light switch
Each of the 3 switches should have 3 terminals Common (maybe called c or com)L1 and L2 I will prefix these with Switch 1,2 or 3

With a short piece of wire connect
Switch1 common to Switch2 L1
Then with another short piece of wire connect
Switch2 common to Switch3 L1
Now connect each outgoing circuit to its respective switches L2 terminal
Finaly connect the supply to Switch3 common
now your switch will work as follows if all switches are off all your circuits will be off, If any switch(es) are On only the highest number Circuit (switched on) will get Power.

Hope this helps

Follow on to last posting

If switch works upside down swap L1 for L2 on each switch
