Default Further Help Please

Hi, ok I have just got delivered the below wireless bridge Vonets Vap11G Wifi Bridge Dongle for Dreambox | SATandCABLE

I cannot get the thing to work, I have installed it through my main pc tower and everything was ok, I entered the wep key ect and said it was successful. When I plug it into the Dreambox 500 the big blue light comes on but the other is orange, I have went to the network section in the dreambox menu and its saying 192.168.0.0 which i am assuming is wrong? I am using the DCC V2.95 by Berny R and not sure which connection type i should be using whether its the direct crossover, switch hub or router? I am ising a Virgin media super hub. Any help would be great, thanks

Not used one, but logic would say that it should be set to router, as that is what it's eventually connected to. The device is seen as a hardwired ethernet socket on a router I presume.

Also to help diagnose, you could always connect a laptop to it, and use the built in functions in Widows to get the correct settings, it might not even be connected properly to your wifi network.

Hi thanks for the reply, yes i could connect it to a laptop, do i just need to connect the ethernet to the laptop via the bridge and get the settings from there? Whereabouts in windows do i do this? On the dcc program it says check dreambox ip address which says its not connected, thanks

It will be in the control panel, or whatever it is called on your version of windows. Yes just connect it to the laptop using ethernet cable, if you have wifi in the laptop, might be an idea to disable it for it a bit, to make it easy to check whether the PC is internet connected via the ethernet rather than inbuilt laptop wifi.

The screen sometimes stops and freezes, is this due to my wireless bridge and would it work better if i had an ethernet connection in instead? Thanks

I would suggest that you got yourself a long ethernet cable and made a temporary hook-up, and find out.
