I have had one of these to test, and have to say that it is a very good little tool.

I tested the meter with my motorised dish and found that it operated the motor using Diseqc 1.2 perfectly.

I also tested it while aligning a 1.2m channel master dish on Nilesat, again the meter worked very well. A useful feature was being able to select any particular transponder to align on, and use the meter's reading to get the alignment perfect.

During bright sunlight I was able to see the screen fine, which was helped since the case when open, acts as a shroud.

I noticed that the meter has an AV output, so connected that to my TV, which could be useful for demonstration of dish functionality to customer etc.

The meter is also nice and light, and ideal for use up a ladder.

Unlike some professional meters, it does not require to go back to the distibutor for updating channel/transponder lists, as transponders/satellites are very easy to add or remove. Scanning of transponders is also very fast.


Overall, I was very pleased with the operation of the meter, so much so, that I'm going to buy it!

Apart from DIY use etc, I think that the meter provides a nice little back-up meter for professional use also, and not too expensive if it gets dropped from 20ft or nicked!

Bought one of these (excellent service, btw), mainly after Robbo's mini review, after all if it impresses an installer, it can't be that bad I'm merely an amateur dabbler, absolutely no expert, and bought this beastie to help re-setup my dish when I move it later this year. Basically, for the non-techies, it's mainly a mini receiver with a built in tv. As Robbo & Rick have said many times on this forum, watching a channel on a tele when setting up is as good as any other method of setting up a dish! The quality is excellent, but I'm puzzled as to the point of the software upgrade cable (serial to usb), as there's no software to run said interface, nor do the minimal instructions detail where you get said software. Does anyone know of any such software being available, as the manual hints at updating channel lists, which would be helpful.

The software is updatable via serial not USB, it just uses a USB connection on the unit, but needs a normal COM port on the computer.

Yes, not sure where the software is available from as yet either.

i would only presume it would be for updating the whereabouts of new satellites, until a new one appears no update

It is just like a receiver, so should have available firmware and channel/transponders lists.

Yes it is a nice bit of kit, used it on some installs already, despite having a meter that costs almost 3 times as much.
