1 Dish, 2 Quad LNBs, 4 DISEQC Switches, 2 Dreamboxes, 2 FloppyDTV S2's... Help

Hi All,
I’ve got quite a big project to piece together and could do with as much help as possible lol.
Apologies if I have posted in the wrong sub forum, but it’s quite a complex system so not sure where to put it.


Ok the end goal is to have the following:


1 Dish
2 Quad LNBS (on twin LNB holder/bracket)
1 LNB pointing to HOTBIRD
1 LNB pointing to ASTRA
4 DISEQC switches
2 Feeds to Dreamboxes
2 Feeds to DVB-S2 Cards in PC
1 Mediaportal TV Server

1) Ok, so here we go… am I right in thinking that I can take one output from each LNB and feed it into a DISEQC 2-1 switch (x4), to give me 4 feeds, each one having the benefit of showing feeds from both Satellites?


2) So 2 feeds would go to dreamboxes and the remaining 2 I wanted to feed into 2 Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV DVB-S2 cards, but I have no idea which CAMs and CARDs I should be looking for?

Hi, answer to question 1 is yes, 1 switch is needed for each feed. Though you could use 4x1 switches instead, in case you wanted to add an extra satellite or two.

Do you know if any of the outputs from the LNBs can be fed into a diseqc switch, ie... output 1 from LNB A and Output 1 from LNB B have to go into the same switch?

It dosen't matter which output on the quad you use, as they are all the same, just run one feed from each to each switch.

That's right, it doesn't matter which LNB outputs are used. Though, it would be a good idea to use all port1 on the switches for Hotbird and all port2 s for Astra, or something like that, just to keep things consistent, and make it easier when setting up receivers.
