Default Silvercrest SL65 cycling on & off standby

Hi

I have this tuned into a German satalite. I worked find but then has started to cycle on and off standby and we can't stop it. If I unscrew the cable it stops.

Why has it started to do this please ?

Thanks if anyone can help

Probably a cable or LNB fault. Check for damage, shorts or water ingress, and try a different LNB, maybe re-run a temporary cable to test.

As strange as it might sound, make sure the video output settings are set as follows:-
Display Mode = Auto
Video Output = CVBS
(Remove the LNB cable to allow you to alter this setting).

Just to add reasoning to the post above....

One of my friends had a similar issue. If you leave the STB on default factory settings it works on all sats barring any channels that have changed frequency. As soon as you perform a scan, then the reboots begin. This would obviously eliminate the other parts of the setup from the equation particularly if you've tried another receiver that does not have any issues with the cable and lnb.

This peculiar thing happens with some receivers which use the ALI chipset. Personal experience with Fortec Star DSR 4000 and DSR 4200.

The above solution was found by another chap called strangename.
