Unhappy Arabsat on hotbird question

Hi there!

Not sure if these arabsat issues are covered here, or apologies if I have misplaced this thread,

I currently have a HUMAX receiver receiving arab channels on Hotbird in my lounge, I want to pipe the signal to another TV in my kitchen, QUESTION is:

I know I can run an additional cable from my dish to the Kitchen TV with another receiver in the kitchen, but what I want to know is, can I change the receiver in my lounge to a better one (maybe with RF out) then run a coax from the receiver in lounge to the new receiver or straight to TV in my kitchen either via RF or LNB out.

My Humax has 1 LNB out socket free but no RF socket.

I know that if I was to run cable from the dish to kitchen I would need to 1. get up to the dish (on roof) and 2. change the LNB (as currently is single connection) which I dont really want to do,

Is there an easier/simplier way to do this?, keeping in mind that its IMPORTANT that I can watch different channels at the sametime on both TVs.

Can the LNB out be used to run coax to another Humax receiver and can I watch different channels this way?

Many Thanks in advance for your suggestions and answers, Please help...

Liam

you cant watch different channels with the way you want it done mate

You have to run another cable from the LNB to the second box.

You could watch different channels using the loopthrough but they would have to be on the same polarity and band.

Only proper solution is the twin Lnb I'm afraid

You can actually get both pol's running on 2 receivers - depends of a few factors.

Why not consider getting her Arabsat on 26e.

How? Without access to the LNB.

you've almost certainly done it & noticed it by accident on jobs.

It's the same as a high gain TV aerial set vertical & aimed at a very strong main transmitter- enough of the horizontal TX will get through on a vertical aerial to get over digital threshold to form a picture (easier to see it on analogue)

If you are on a very strong satellite with a 1m dish & could get the the strong sats with a camping dish ... the power from the other pol' will be quite strong & the correct pol will be very/ very strong which would normally cause too much noise for the other reduced pol' to get through to a 2nd stb- except if it's a TP that doesn't have a lot of nearby TPs on the same or the other pol'- in that case you can get it- on a lower power level than the correct pol' but just over threshold.

Hotbird / Astra 1 & 2/ Turksat/ Hispasat etc. are probably too busy throughout KU to find a TP that free of adjacent TP noise to do it on a 1m but given spare time you can show it on a less busy sat with the right conditions & I'm sure you've already done it-

cross pol' figures on lnbs are not zero- only a measure of reduction, it's all still there, just very low.

Ahh right, yes that makes sense. I've never looked for it though.

You just need an application for it - someone that wants to feed several boxes & only wants a few channels on the same band but one tp is on the other pol.. so you could do it cheap just using RF dist? (if it was a tp that would do it-.............. which it wouldn't be)
