cable box help

hiya all
i am posting this about a freinds pace 1000 cable box, they have had it around 3 months its chipped and has worked fine untill thursday when they turned it on in the morning and it now says on info bar, no channels available and only stays on channel zero and screen stays black, if you try to change channel it doesnt do anything and stays on zero, and the 3rd lite at botom of disply just stays on as well, i thought they might have been cut off from green box but tried it at other houses with cable and it just stays the same, they said it hasnt been dropped or banged, cud the card have stopped working or is there something more wrong and wondered if some body would have an idea what could be wrong or give me some ideas on how to help them, thanks for reading

dazler ps when my box that was chipped went off last year i could still receive basic channels and on this you cant which i find a bit weird

It could be dead coz its an old box, common fault with 1000's, or it might need the card updating, try adding the new flash to it.

hiya, thanks tee tried that mate and no joy, worked fine and they said got up next day and been like that since, done a card t day and it stayed the same
