Default What order must I install new S/W

Hi, I have been useing the same S/W since I bought my A780 box in
09 - 09 -2010 .. No probs befor but now I have this prob just like everyone else. But I am not sure how to go about updating to the latest S/W.

Do I install it, Useing my Null modem cable straight over the old s/w. Or do I use the Un - Pached s/w. Then install the latest version.

Could someone please advise, Thanks.

They cant use the remote update method if they dont have the JAN 2011 firmware on the box, any other firmware is redundant now, including the Jan file now as well.

Why would you be pressing the green button after update ?? what is that going to do ??

They need to factory default the box from the main menu first.

Hi, Yes I did try the hand set but it wouldn't let me download or install anything, But now i am still in the same position, as you all started discussing who's right or wrong among- st yourselves. I thought some more experienced people would have known which would be the best way to go for sure.

I think I will use the UN-patched -Patch, Then hopefully install the latest S/W If somebody who knows that this would be wrong, could you please advise, Thanks
