I got a sky satellite dish without a sky box. which box should I buy and information on its firmware and requirements? I guess i dont need to have a sky subscription or sky box because you are just pointing your sat dish at sky's satellite and using a box with hacked firmware to decrypt channels.

thanks.
your questions would be answered quicker in the sat section, 1st off your correct no sly box or sly sub required, however whatever box u buy will need to have cccam installed on a dreambox you can do so via ftp or rs232 cable, there is no hacked firmware to decrypt channels on sat side this is why a live internet connection is required to view non fta channels. so you would need to find a server to sub 2 usually around £10 per month, and the provider will give u a cline to enter into cccam.cfg and then your channels will descramble as long as you keep subbing to the server.

Hi

Cheap start off box would be the openbox hd s9 and think theres an s10 coming out but ot sure.

Easy to set up and al you`l need to do is google for c/s.

Motorised dish will open up lots of options but a fixed dish will open up options to where its pointing at.

Regards

Thumbs up Re: Best Recommended Box with HD and Nagra 3

Stay away from the Open box S9 and maybe even the S10 as well if they have improved on the rebooting problems... these rebooting issues are a headache and when using the modified firmware they work fine but after a while u notice that certain channels will fail to work even when the other side is working fine.

So what that means is that you would need to factory default the box and then re flash it

So this way you get the channel list back up as it was when you installed the F/W. from there you can add the missing channels via the transponders list.

New firmware has got the FTP access which recently got released. And secondly what steve stated above is 100% correct.

However I would wait till the 15th May 2011 and if they have solved the rebooting issues on 28.2E then bobs your uncle and you can go ahead and buy the box by all means.

If they haven't then I would advice you get a better box.. i.e a DM800HD.

The S9 box costs around 75 quid but be careful in who you buy it from as there are clones available. if memory serves me right is that the only way to tell is by looking through the vents onto the card reader and if its green or something like that on mounted on the PCB then its a clone box.

S9 is not recommended for MULTISAT. (not enough channel memory)

Dm800 u can get it for 140 quid. RECOMMENDED!!!

Enlighten me and tell me which firmware has solved that issue please. Because so far every firmware I have come across that box, the issue still persists.

PS: The firmware that is suppose to solve the rebooting problems on 28.2e is suppose to be released on the 15th May 2011.

Just to add the new firmware that they released on the 6th May 2011 nothing states about the rebooting issues being solved.
