Just like a few people's views on this tragedy .
Myself although feel sorry for parents ( and more so Maddy ) cannot feel that if it was a working class family from Liverpool and they had left there kids in a room while they went off for a meal , that they would have got slated for it . From my days of going on holiday with my mum and dad if they was going out the buggy would always be took with them and if kids fell asleep then they went in the buggy and my mum and dad would not take there eyes off them . Now at the age of 40 with a 13 year old daughter i did the same when she was young buggy came out with us and she would have an hour or two in the buggy at the side of us and never never ever left alone . Is it just me or do other people think they are to blame as much as the people who took her ? P.S Written this now because i see her mum has written a book about it , maybe she should have read a few books about being a good parent instead of leaving 3 kids alone locked in a room while she went for a meal. I agree with the above. When we went away on holiday the kids came everywhere with us, even if they were tired, it is common sense not to leave the child alone in a foreign Country, not just in case some pervert tries to kidnap them but also in case of dangers in the room or chalet they are in.

I agree that the parents made a huge mistake, but the punishment has far outweighed the crime. They have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. As a father I don't think I could put into words how I would feel in their position.
As for getting slated if they were working class. Is that not more an indictment on society to judge, than the parents?

Well said. They made a mistake leaving the child on her own but to say "Is it just me or do other people think they are to blame as much as the people who took her ?" is totally outrageous. There is no comparison between the 2 events. One is committed by a despicable and depraved human being. The other by a stressed parent. ( I don't think you actually meant that, maybe a poor choice of words.) Last edited by helpfull; 07-05-11 at 04:07 PM. |

Whether in a foreign country or not, leaving their children unattended was indefensible and I wonder if it's something they'd done before and got away with.

A stressed parent ? Where do you get that from ? Do you know for £5 the hotel provided some one who would have sat in with the children . Stressed ....................do me a favour . |
