Exclamation Techwatch back online

I've re-opened Techwatch on the grounds that I think the last malware exploit was nuked last night, and the site appears to have remained clean since without any further problems - whereas normally the malware would try and rewrite site files every couple of hours.

While I feel it's safe to re-open the forums, I'm still keeping alert for any problems, and at the first sign of a verified problem with malware I will shut the forums down and move us to a new server.

I'm hoping that won't happen, but in the meantime:

1. Please do empty your browser cache to ensure your browser isn't still keeping any infected files saved to your computers. If you do receive an attack warning, empty your cache.

2. Please do a full virus scan - Malwarebytes has been recommended to me and I've used it myself to ensure my computer is clean:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

My own McAfee failed to spot anything, so I uninstalled that and set up AVG, which caught a couple.

3. If you do fear you've been infected with malware that you cannot remove, consider using System Restore in Windows 7 & XP to an earlier date, preferably before May 10th. This should not affect your data - but back it up anyway as a precaution.

There are still some malware warnings being automatically published by third-parties, but these should disappear over the next few hours.

In the meantime, here's hoping that everything is finally now safe, but I have contingency plans to move us if necessary.

Firefox is still thowing up the 'Reported attack site warning Click ignore warning allows access.however Trying to change pages or log on throws the box up again.I have tempoeraly disabled 'Block attack sites in preferances.'This allowws normal use and I am able to log on.the site seems to be working ok.

PS Disabling 'BLOCK ATTACK SITES 'In preferances is not a good idea . I will not be leaving it that way.

PS PS.I suspect a lot of members are not getting on the forum because firefox is blocking it.

Yep, but can't be helped - it's a generic warning but it'll take a few hours to clear up. I don't expect things to be back to normal for a couple of days while these warnings filter out.

I should add that the main Techwatch page comes up ok.It is just the forums that are blocked.Click the forum link and the warning comes up.

Computer shopper. Often do antivirus tests.MacAfee do's not do well.
Kaspersky is usually the best.Avg free is always amonst the best.
Last time Trend micro came out top..It caught everything that they thew at it.
If I was going to buy one it would be kaspersky.
But I am not likely to.I have Never had a virus with AVG.
