I have moved into a new (to me) house with a dish (about a meter across no markings, solid, cream coloured) pointing south. The dish connected was used (as I understand) to get French tv.
I have put an old Sky digibox (without card) on it and get "No satellite signal being received" but in settings I get a signal lock, 50% strength and 70% quality reported. At the moment I am using this signal to trace where coax cable runs go in my new house as there are Coax cable runs to several rooms. It comes into a patch panel in the loft where I have picked the above signal. Eventually I will get Sky HD but in the meantime can I use the Digibox to add any "other" channels and view them? I can upload a (poor) photo of the dish if that would help. |

There's a lot of French TV, both FTA and encrypted on 5W so the dish will be pointing a lot further south than any Sky dish if it's lined up on that. Given the limited SR options on a Sly box you could try tuning it to 12543 H SR27500-3/4 see if you can get Imed TV and a cluster of radio stations.
