Default iphone 3gs losing signal

hiya,i have an iphone 3gs and it keeps losing signal,i can have full signal one minute then next minute it just drops off until i reboot phone,it sometimes lasts an hour before dropping off sometimes a minute or two.its really annoying me..does anyone know whats causing it to do this and anyway of fixing it.it was jailbroken and was doing it so i restored it back to an unjailbroken state and it still does it.
any ideas?

i would check the phones serial number with applecare 1st of all.(if you havent allready) or with network on contract to check the phones warranty situation. have u tried the fone on 2g as it could be a signal problem with provider

i have started to get this also on nokia 5800,im with o2 and rang them for advice, and was told that PAYG customers are given a lesser priority on the phone network/signal side of things than contract customers,i have no idea how they fathom that out or how they set about doing it?
