Default My Head Hurts!!

Hi all.
I have tried and tried to set up my stuff but now i'm stumped.
Hopefully someone on here has the know how to set me on the right track.
I used to have a CRT t.v. hooked via phono out to my hi fi and by scart and rf leads to other stuff.
I decided to buy a 42" LCD t.v.
I didn't notice it hasn't got phono out. I wouldn't have bought it if I had noticed.
I can get DVD's to play through the hi fi, brilliant sound, but I can't get the rest of my stuff set up properly.
So, this is my gear
LG 42" LCD LD450 T.V.
LiteOn HD-A740 HDD/DVD Recorder
Technics SC-DV290 Hi Fi

I have bought a optical lead as the t.v. and dvd recorder have optical sockets.
I have several scart leads.
I have a loft antenna.
I can only see the 5 analogue channels on the dvd recorder, I cannot see any digital channels via the built in freeview in the t.v. ??
Can anyone tell me the best way to set this stuff up please.
Many thanks for looking.

Yes, 1 x AVG/RGB.
I have a scart going from there to scart 1 of the dvd recorder.

Set up at the mo is thus.
RF from antenna to dvd recorder.
RF from dvd recorder to t.v.
Phono plugs from dvd to hifi.
Scart from t.v. to dvd recorder.
Optical toslink cable from t.v. to dvd recorder.

When I had each item seperate, ie a Nokia freeviw box, all was fine. Now I can't see any channels but analogue through the dvd player so can't record anything but the 5 channels and they are poor quality.

Don't know much about optical connections but I would guess that you don't need both optical and scart connections from TV to DVD. I'd be tempted to get a scart to phono convertor and connect the TV to your sound system that way. If it doesn't work you've only lost a couple of quid.

CS, yes, I can get all digital channels on my tv via the antenna.

Badger, tried them on their own and both together.
I only have one scart on the tv so would not be able to connect my dvd recorder if I connected the hifi that way (assuming I ever get to see all the channels on it that is, that's the other problem).

You can buy an adapter that goes into the headphone socked on the side
of your TV. This adapter has mini jack with phono L and R out.
As for the freeview the RF cable from the antenna goes straight into
the TV, not the recorder as you have said.
The RF out from the TV goes into the recorder.

Hi Alucard (been watching too many horror films?)

There is only one rf socket on the t.v.
Only ever seen t.v.'s with one?
My old ctr had one, the rf went from antenna to freeview, freeview to dvd, dvd to t.v. and all worked perfectly.
The mini jack phono thing might be worth a try though.
This is barmy.
I buy a new t.v. and it takes all sorts of bits and bobs to set it up right.
Wish i'd stuck with me crt ( apart from watching Led Zep on DVD on the new t.v., now that was something else!!!! 42" of brilliance through me hifi)
