I just bought a new system, Ross from B&Q. Dish, HD box etc. Have installed it all correctly, lined up the dish using a satfinder and get a fabulous signal and picture on all chanels until about 1630. Then the signal is lost completely until the next day. Thought it was a fluke the first couple of days but not now. It did come back on Sunday evening for about 3 hours then dissapeard again. This is really getting on my nerves as everything is ok till about 4.30 pm. I don't live in the middle east or a hot country, I live in Devon. Anyone know why this is happening?

Do you have anything electronic in the house which starts automatically at 16:30 every day? A possible culprit might be interference from the RF of a wirelessly controlled central heating system. It might even be a close neighbour's system causing the problem. What is in the line of sight of the dish - colud be some contenders there? Dect phones have also been known to cause problems.

Thankx for the reply Badger & Hi..
Been told it could be anything from bad lnb, it's a brand new system, to next doors pet mongoose running down the lawn at the wrong time.... Just shot the mongoose but still the same problem, only kidding children! No but seriously, yes we do have the very latest wireless centrel heating system funnyly enough, but it is swithched off as far as i know, at least we are not using it at the monent, quite pleasent here in devon at the moment... The same thing has happened today but at 1815, next door does not have anything that could interfeer with it apart from their plutonium recycling plant. Maybe it's that! We don't have anything like you are suggesting that could interfeer with the signal. Thinking about getting the man with the roserey beads in to sort it out. Is it at all possible that the Astra sattalite actually moves? I know it's supposed to be in a stationary orbit but has anyone else had this problem? Last edited by mr wobble; 24-05-11 at 11:13 PM. |

The satellites do wobble a small amount, but never noticed it on such a small dish. Are you sure that you have aligned it accurately enough?

As usual, signal is now back. It,s 1115 at the moment. Got signal q of 63% & 99% on L. on all the available channels. These are always the same till the signal goes. Tried switching off the boiler but still had same problem, boiler is on at moment and still got these figures! just bought a double lnb to feed another box into the bedroom so will see if this has any effect, maybe it is the lnb that is overheating. Keep looking back Robbo, thanks for your input.
