Default Is this a stoopid question?

OK... I know on the face of it this might appear to be a stoopid question. BUT... i would really appreciate it if someone could answer it.

We terminated our Virgin Cable TV/Broadband agreement with virgin.

I read with interest about people on this forum "messing about" with their Virgin boxes.

Is the point of doing this to get free tv channels, so getting all available TV channels on a lower agreement?

Can people who mess about with boxes get 50mb broadband whilst on a 5mb internet connection agreement?

And... finally (possibly stoopidest of all)... do i have to have an account with virgin to successfully pull this off? ... to explain... having cancelled my virgin broadband, when i access the internet, i get taken to the "Virgin Activation page". Assumingly this means I'm still accessing virgins network on some level. Is it therefore possible to alter my cable modem to bypass this activation screen?

Far as am concerned is that you need the lowest package in order to do what you want.

I don't know why you would want a hacked modem and be messing around with this... Its too much of a hassle and definitely not worth it.

Last I heard was that obtaining MAC 's has becoming harder.

As far as getting all the channels yes it's possible and you will find all the info in the KV and SV section.

"Last I heard was that obtaining MAC 's has becoming harder."

That's the impression i've been getting from reading the forum. ut... i still wanna give it a go.

When using "dhcp sniffer" or "coax theif" to scan for macs... does the router you are doing this on have to be flashed with HaxorFirmware? Or can i sniff for macs using the default Virgin modem firmware?

(Basically i can't flash my modem until all the stuff i bought from ebay arrives... but i would like to begin sniffing tonight. its all too exciting not to try).

best way is see someone who has some macs in your area.

ive been the looky one and kept online for quite sometime..

but its took me a long time to get the macs etc.

you could just get cheap internet in then get a box that way you will save money but if you go for (modem) remember if the modem goes offline/cutoff so will the TV it's up to you.

to be honest go for cheap net !

but hey goodluck whatever you choose

regards me
