Hi all,
I have got a TechniSat SkyStar USB HD box but am unable to get it to work. I have plugged it into my PC and the normal 'Found New Hardware' wizard comes up and does its thing before saying 'Ready to Use'. However, when I run the software installation from the supplied CD I get an error message saying 'The hardware and device driver must be installed before installing the application software. Please refer to the User's Guide, etc' So I'm stuck, the User's Guide is no use as it just tells me to plug it in and it should work (which it doesn't) Any help would be much appreciated, my main Freesat box has just bit the dust so I need some way to get TV! |

It could well be that your PC is on Vista or WIN7, and your CD driver is XP.
and therefore incompatable. Try finding somebody with XP and loading from their computer. I hope that this helps |

I have tried installing the software from a download on the Technisat website which says it is Windows Vista and 7 compatible but still no luck :/. The box also says compatible with Vista so I don't think that is the problem. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried leaving the blox unplugged, installing the software, then plugging the box in?
Some hardware insists you install the drivers before connecting. See if that helps?

Still nothing.
However, I seem to have found a way around it. I went into the CD files and opened the DVB viewer setup straight from its source and it let me install it and I am getting TV now so thats good. Are there any recommended recorders/players as the one supplied doesn't seem to be very good. Thanks |

The usual one that the majority of people seem to go for is MyTheathre. You could possibly also try ProgDVB or WatchTVPro.

OK, Thanks. I'll look into them. Do any of these sort the channels like a freesat box would and come up with like a comprehensive guide where BBC 1 is channel 101, etc or do I have to do that manually?
