default ip is normaly 192.168.1.1

To find your routers ip.

go to start > Run > CMD click enter

then in this box type IPCONFIG

now type the number display under default gateway into your browser.

this all depens if your running windows and not a mac.

Yer need to know how to password yer router mate, all routers have diffo ways of doing it, yer come on here asking fer help and don't even give any info on what router yer using, ok yer got no manual or wotever but at least give us the specs on the router and then yer may get more help on how to sort yer problem out by doing this?

hey JAM chill out, been checking things with my provider and i,'m nearly sorted, i'm very new to this game and should have said "MODEM" not "ROUTER" but it seems it was a fault on my B/Band provider so a big thanks to all of you for your help, memo to self, must do better.

It's not a problem. Also you could haggle with your provider(provided you've been with them for a while) to try and get a better deal. All it takes is to hunt out some good deals out there, to tell your ISP and they should normally match the deal(ie: either lower your bill or keep your bill the same but with more speed etc...), meaning that you don't have to worry about how much data you are using

A wasn't gettin at yer in any way mate, just trying to point out that had you give specs on which router ten we could have got yer sorted out a lot quicker.
