You really cant rely on any form of CS system. If you need the channels then the only way to guarantee them is to subscribe (yes, I know, even that goes off occasionally but at least you have an expectation that it will return quickly).
If you really want to go KV (or even SV) then make the decision for yourself only. Dont go making it for friends/family because it will just end up being your problem when it all goes down......... |

Some people with SV6 may have got only a few days, SV7's got a lot more.
I understand that the new Starview team is not the same as the original SV team. I say, good for the new Starview for supporting older boxes.

Not quite sure i'd class asking people for cash for access is support. In fact, doesn't the fact that its now effectively a 'paid' service render further discussion of the service against forum rules ?

Whether you ask for cash up front or on an ongoing basis, I don't see the difference. Both KV and SV are paid as are 99.9% of CS servers. Even a share server where you share a subscription and don't pay cash is a "paid" service as you have to pay for the sub to share.
General CS discussion is not against the rules, getting into specific technical aspects is against the rules.

So i'm free to mention any other paid-for CS system by name ?
The rules are getting awfully blurry here. There's a distinct difference between technical discussion of a system and effectively becoming a support mechanism for that system. Tbh, I suspect both KV & SV discussions on this forum may have exceeded the rules. |

You mean like the wizard server or ultimateCS server - many have been mentioned by name, just don't post any links or contact details.
