Its all semantics but if you want to play word games then try and be consistant about it and remember the follow-ups (2nd raids, 3rd raids...) that occured for SV. Lets just say that both parties suffered a Police raid consistant with a single ongoing investigation. The fact both parties had multiple premises searched at varying times and property siezed from those multiple properties is really neither here nor there - its all part and parcel of the same investigation.

I suspect your correct !

Even though the items may not in themselves be illegal if anything is proved against the owners then they are likely to be seized as proceeds of crime and destroyed.

Your playing semantics again and not very well !

Under your definition we ultimately pay for everything without exception. Perhaps thats true literally but I suspect most people would know the difference between a pay-server and a co-operative server.

Maybe it is semantics, but I know of a few people that have bought Porn cards from me so they can access an "exchange server" and had no intention of watching the Porn. How is that different from just paying direct to a "Pay server"

OK, I'll tell you what. You go out and buy £150 of Postal Orders and I will exchange them for a KV box or a Blade7000, they you will not have paid for a box

This has now gone way too far OT. If anyone wants to start a debate about whether paying in kind or exchanging goods counts as not paying, then fine but in a more appropriate section please.

I suspect your deliberately being obtuse here by refusing to see the difference between a payserver and one set up between a co-operating group on a non-profit basis.

In your above scenario -

1/ If somebody chooses to buy a card in order to join the group then thats their personal decision, its nothing to do with the server. Nertheless, both parties are still satisfied as both gain. The server gains the porn share whilst the individual gains the rest - all at a fraction of the real cost. Note that the server makes no profit on this exchange. Its simply a facilitator of shares between individuals.

2/ I refuse to believe anybody would buy a porn card and never actually use it for personal 'education'

Of course there is a difference between a for-profit and a not for profit server, do you not read what I write or make it up as you go along.

The end user still pays for access whether in cash or kind, so they are both Pay servers and not free servers. There are some free servers around but they don't seem to last for long

You seem to be trying to compare the Kryptview servers with a not for profit "Exchange" server. I don't have any figures but based on my experience of KV outselling SV better than 25:1 and the rumored sales of 25,000 SV6/7 boxes, that would suggest that KV have made 10's of millions from the sale of boxes - not a bad community profit

Now, as both of you have ignored the direction to stay on topic, I have closed the thread
