Hi, I hope I've posted in the right section.

For a few weeks now our landline has been getting awful static it is so bad that no one can get through on the phone, also the phone is ringing in the middle of the night no one on the other end. Could the boxes be causing this?

earthing issue, more like the cable outside is damaged, nothing can effect the telephone line from a cable box at all. but where the cable comes to the house, one side is catv one side is 2 pair telephone wires
