Default RCA Cables

Hi all.

I am an electrician and we are currently installing some multimedia stuff in a house.

The client supplied there own cables witch we have installed in the walls for RCA he gave us IXOS Model XS61RG6QS QUAD SHIELDED coax cable.

Does anybody know if this is ok for RCA? also i was trying to solder the cores to the RCS module but the braided cores are aluminum so im not sure of the best way to terminate these..

Thanks
Sparkydan

If it is 75 ohm then it is ok, you would have to get crimp on connectors. You can also buy F-type to RCA adapters, so F-types could be screwed on instead.

Not if it is 'solder on', a picture of the back is needed.

rca is not the best connector when using 75 ohm cabling , but thats beside the point .

use only resin fluxes , i prefer rosin just make sure its a resin flux . a hot iron that can reach 400 C .

if the solder wont stick , it will be because the ally wire oxidises too quick , if this happens you will need to coat the wire in oil as soon as you strip it to limit contact with the air .

take some wire home and play around to find what works best .

good luck .
