Probably the minimum you should be doing to protect yourself and also likely quite effective. The harder you are to trace (in terms of time/effort & cost) the less likely you'll have a problem.

I'd also recommend using a non EU VPN to actually connect to any server, preferably also paid for with the pre-pay card.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying or what part of the quoted post you are replying to.

You initially appear to be talking about people selling boxes with satellite cardshare installed and activated, rather than the customers risk which is the thread topic. Then once again trying to say that SV and KV are totally different. Surely even you would agree that using either box to open encrypted channels is illegal, it's no less illegal to use a Kryptview.

Whilst VM (or Sky/NDS) could try to get warrants for Paypal transactions, they don't prove anything other than cash has changed hands. I would be more worried about them getting warrants for Forum logs (logged IP addresses) or even setting up there own "sting" forum. You don't have to look far for people incriminating themselves. Things like "My Sky1 has stopped on my KV box but the other channels are working" or "I get more channels on my Satellite DM box, not just Sky UK but Sky Italy as well" type posts

Just to add to the debate, a few facts and some just advice.

Regards customers having there doors booted in off the plod for using the boxes.

A few eBay sellers of patched boxes (yes i know patched/lan differ) were arrested some time ago and all there customers details were taken. These people then received letter from VM informing them that the product bought could be used to bypass encrypted channels, etc etc

They were told to dispose of the goods and no further action would be taken, and they were still welcome to subscribe as a customer. Some would have run to the nearest tip and threw the box others would have threw the letter in the bin.

But, getting back to the plan they "VM" simply want your £ and i would be extremely surprised if they ever prosecuted end-users, although never say never.

I also read somewhere maybe on another forum that a customer had met KIDDY to pay him cash for the subs, this is the last thing you should do. The passing of cash in brown envelopes (albeit anonymous) will get you in real trouble.
Your then allowing yourself to be added to the conspiracy which is what VM are pushing with all there prosecutions.

Time for ppl to use a little common sense at the moment.

WOW!!!!

I didn't think my post would run to 5 pages!!

My friend had a letter from VM years ago advising him that they knew he'd puchased a SV box from e bay - no other action was taken though and he continued to use the box till it went obsolete.

Still flummoxed . . . . still none the wiser through lol!!

Cheers all for your input
