Your really 5 years too late for this stuff as its getting more difficult by the day as VM try new counter-measures.
However - Quote:
For surrounding areas, you will need a scan from within that area. Size of areas vary enormously depending on whether you are in a densely populated urban area or a more rural area. Some areas can be as small as 1sq mile whilst others can stretch for 25+ miles boundary to boundary ! The MAC scanning program can vary depending on your area and exactly what VM are trying out at this time in that area. You'll usually want to avoid an active scanner (one that actually does things) in favour of a passive scanner (listens only) so expect to scan for longish periods - 24 hours or more is good. (if you do an active scan dont run for more than 20-30 seconds in a 24 hour period). |

Only real way to find out is to try them but generally these days you really need hundreds to find a handful of good ones. Like I said, in most areas things are getting quite difficult now - even if you find a good one they often only last a short while
