Euroxox Max: Red Box / Blue Box

I saw a thread which asked how to tell whether the red / blue referred to the colour of the packaging the Eurovox came in. To which the answer was yes.

I have two follow-up questions.

1. Is there any other way of telling which colour box you have e.g. firmware number?

I ask this question because I don't know what colour the box was (inherited from parents)

2. What difference does the colour of the packaging have?

I presume the answer is that the packaging colour isn't significant but it indicates some variance in the spec of the box on the inside.

if you got the box before feb 07 its probaly blue go to gmail drive and flash it with blue box software and you will find it is the one

The red box is the 2007 version, blue 2006. You can tell the difference between them by looking through the vents on the top of the unit, rear right hand corner. If the tuner (silver bit just under the cover) extends 8 slots in length it's a 2007 version, if it extends 12 slots its a 2006 unit (the tuner unit is more compact in the 2007 version).
The software is also different for both units but otherwise they look & work the same.
