Exclamation Starview support

Just a quick question for folks that paid starview to get their boxes back on, now that you have paid them, what happens next, do they have a forum for you people to go to if the boxes go down, how is there support done, if you are paying for this now you should all know the answer to the question, if you dont you should have asked.

Also if they dont have a support site, is the members here and on other forums supposed to help, after all you are now paying for support, or will the support be still coming from the likes of this forum or others, my opinion is if you are paying for something then you are entitled to be getting it, otherwise what are you paying for, its says support, "lets see do the starview team live up to it which i very much doubt myself"

A fair question !

Bit of a two edged sword really. To claim the payment is for box support they really require a support site but then the questions on any support site would no doubt all be asking about payments and missing channels thus proving the whole thing is actually about a payserver.

Hmm, a real dilemma !

I've seen this on another forum, the claim that as Starview are offering support, then the forum should not. Well, Sky Subscribers and VM subscribers can get support from them. Mobile phone customers can get support from there provider. Many Box manufacturer sites (even Kryptview) have a contact us button - so does that mean that the forum should not help with those either?

My opinion - if a member wants to give support, then do. If you do not want to help, then don't - but don't butt in and criticize those that do or don't choose to help.

There is a difference in helping, and promoting a payserver, and the questions relating to non payserver questions could be answered, but what happens when the said payserver goes down, it will be ohhh we paid for the server and now its off what can we do, so what will be the answer then ?? well hold on and we will find out ??, or will it be well contact the people that you paid the money to, thats not helping is it so they should have their own support forum for the like of these and other payserver questions, that is all im saying.

But of course as always you twist things to suit yourself as per the norm.

Your first post had absolutely nothing to do with the differentiation of which questions to answer on the forum, you were suggesting that no starview questions be answered and your claim that the Kryptview server is totally free is the definition of twisting things to suit yourself.

Like I said, if members want to help other members then good, if they don't that's up to them. If you don't like starview, then keep out of the starview section - simple as that.

Well i just hope the same applies to all other boxes that use payservers or will that be different as well, after all they will be no different from Sv now as in paying for support, so we can class dreambox, openbox etc as paying for support now, so there wont be any misunderstandings on this.

So now that im using a dreambox where do i get support for this box to get all channels working ?, is there (payserver) support details on bigmaq tool bar for this also. ??

I also dont see anyone asking about Kv support for paying details on here or anywhere else for that matter, ohhh i forgot there is no payment for this box as its sold FTA, apart from third party firmware for it, still not a payserver or support as SV call it.

as far as ive been told we cannot discuss anything payserver connected on here......
so this would make anything starpoo against forum rules?

starview charge us for support,,, so as clio says where is that support? before i pay id like to have a glimpse of what im getting for my money. not that i would pay as im a sat guy now but if i decide to get my neighbours sorted with their boxes id love to have the info they will be paying for...

regards dave

I've already called for Admin clarification in another thread of this very question without satisfactory response.

Not quite sure why Admin haven't answered the query when there is obviously a conflict between what we all thought were the rules and what appears to be happening now.

edit: hmm, maybe Admin have actually replied. Never noticed until it was just pointed out but the donate button points you at techwatch@lincsat.org
Does that make Lincsat a 'closet' admin ?
