Hi guys, a friend in work has sky multi room, with 1 sky plus hd box, and 1 sky hd box that he wants to upgrade to another sky plus hd box. If he buys a second hand box would he have contact sky to activate the card, or would it be plug and play?

He would need to activate the card. With sky it doesn't matter as box is yours once the contract has ended. So u can do pretty much what you want with it. Sky will not reject to this.

The other HD box will not get the HD channels unless he takes out another SUB. So if he wants HD he will have to pay, and if he's going to pay then they will give him a free upgrade to an HD box.

Just reread it and this reply was probably no good but I'll leave it anyway.

Unadkat is correct Ive done it myself. Bought a box and then phoned up and had the card paired.
