Hi,
I have a Toshiba L300, however the power jack has come adrift from the wires ie red & black wires, I will be resoldering but in what order do the wires go ? can I just solder them back to the jack in any order ? Any help please Many Thanks |

Convention would say that red goes to the +ve and black to the -ve.
Which is +ve and -ve is indicated on the laptop or power brick with a symbol like ----C o--- (where the C surrounds the o) with C indicating the outer and o the pin. Whether Toshiba laptops follow the convention.... And typically it does matter as the supply is DC. A simple diode bridge (on the device side of the socket) would ensure it never matters, but that is an expense no manufacturer seems willing to add to prevent damage due to incorrect supply polarity.
