Hi,
I have just bought a TM-5300 D+ USB Super, and am having the following issue: On some channels, when I press the "Subtitles" button on my remote and choose the language in question (rather than "OFF"), the picture freezes, then the receiver powers off, then powers back on, and only then does it allow me to choose the subtitles, which then come on. Obviously some channels don't have subtitles at all, but this is a very irritating glitch that neither my retailer nor Technomate seem to be aware of. Anyone out there with a similar experience? Thanks! |

Check if the receiver is patched or using the original firmware. I suggest loading the latest official firmware then trying it, as it might be a bug in any patches installed.

Thanks Mickha,
When I first took the box back to the dealer, he said Technomate didn't necessarily put the latest firmware on their website, and he proceeded to install a patch, which hasn't resolved the issue. Looking at Technomate's Downloads, I am unclear as to which firmware is in fact the latest for my machine. It came pre-installed with software dating back to August 2009 (Version 116), and the Technomate people themselves, when phoned, insisted there was later software, from August 2010 (also 116), but on exact inspection that appeared to relate to the TM-5300 Super version, and not my TM-5300 D+ Super one. Is it possible to restore the machine to its pre-installed firmware? Admittedly, that appeared to contain the subtitle glitch... |

Most receivers have a factory default option, in the menu, but unfortunately this might not get it back to the original firmware, the only thing to do is download the latest official firmware, from the Technomate site, install it, then search for the latest patch, I think they're done by MAGIC, check the alsat site or search the internet.

Thanks again Mickha,
I've now returned the receiver and got my money back. At the shop, the subtitles seemed to work if the subtitle language in the set-up menu was set to whatever language the relevant channel provided. However, when we pressed the button on the remote to remove the subtitles, the box froze again, powered off and then on again. The vendor said the receiver needed to power off and on to get the new information from the satellite, while my point of view is that the software should be able to handle these situations. This doesn't mean I won't consider Technomate in future. |
