Vermin been out to ne box at he end of the street today whatever they have done and painted it grey i no my feed is still connected at the box but am only even getting a black screen on the STB i was using for freeview any ideas wats goin on......

yeah if u were not paying for a tv service it's been cut of, new audit of boxs going on every 3 months.

and grey paint is cheaper than green

i thought they had to be painted green for to look pleasing in an enviromental way?

Im still connected as far as i know but they seem to have changed the insides of the boxes they went around the whole area and pulled the whole insides out f all the boxes not good at all

They are replacing a lot of the old boxes with the much more modern units which have all kinds of remote diagnostics and monitoring available. VM can effectively loop-back and check any individual line remotely using this equipment.

One of the main uses is so they can do remote line diagnostics when you report a problem. They can easily see both source and receiver signal levels so can determine if its an actual network (or cabinet) fault or a local equpment (ie in your premises) fault and dispatch the correct enginner to deal.

A bonus (for VM at least) is that this system also makes the identification of 'clone' modem users vastly easier. Using the loop-back system a clone can effectively be traced back to an individual subscriber line remotely. All thats then required for identification is for an engineer to physically follow the line to a property - no complex equipment or trained engineers needed !
