Ask the thousand of users using them at the moment, but i would say a lot less risky than Sv thats for sure since the have gone to pay as you view for your tv.

Like clio said, I know loads of people running them and never heard anyone had any problems running them and useing vm. Theirs only 2 boxes to use on the cable side and kv is the better service at this moment and for a few months before now.
Be warned they could go off at anytime if they got closed down.

Really? You think it's safer to use a VM line to connect your KV than to use a SV at all?!

I'm sure it would be easier for VM to monitor their own users than to obtain subscriber details from a third party.

That said, AFAIK, no end user has been "done" yet, either on VM or not.

Over the last 5 or so years ask your friend to tell you about one, just one of the many many many thousands who has been done, go on I only want evidence of a tiny number, just one .. .. if s/he cant tell you about one tell your friend bollox

It has occured on several occasions although it tends not to be widely publicised. Generally, VM handle the matter internally and the 'culprit' is simply banned from ever taking a service with VM again. I've only ever heard of it going to court once !

VM very probably do monitor connections to certain IP addresses but such monitoring wont be limited to VM customers. The reason is the way the internet works with pretty much all the big providers allowing 'data transit' through their networks for all the other operators. This means somebody using say, BT, for CS is reasonably likely to have their data packets pass through a VM system at some point and thus possibly be monitored.

There's also the added complication that all UK ISP's now have to keep 'connection' data for a period of two years by law. It would therefore theoretically be relatively easy for any interested party to procure a warrant for disclosure of all IP's connecting to a certain destination. If that destination IP is a KV/SV server then that would give a list of every client thats been connected in the last two years. This is one of the reasons I advocate the use of non UK based VPN systems for any form of CS activity !!!

Why did this one go to court ?

- daft lad ?
- was set up ?
- running a wonkey modem ?

First person I ever heard make the claim, 99.9% of everyone is not running a tunnel why was this one ' snagged ' ?
