Im having problems connecting to a belkin wireless router with an Acer aspire one netbook, it works ok wired up but will only connect wireless with security Wap/Wep disabled.
The acer works ok on my neighbours BT wireless so it seems to be the belkin thats the problem. I have updated firmware on netbook and router and tried different channels, i could use it with the mac filter on and security disabled i suppose but im not happy with doing that. Is this an incompatability problem ? Anyone any ideas ? |

Hi mate its an F5D8233 ive had it a while with my main PC and a couple of receivers connected, only ever used it wired up, it sends a good signal, if you had same problem maybe its a compatability problem, as i said it connects to my neighbours fine.

Ok, just googled your model, seems like a different one. Seems strange that your router works ok open access, I would get it returned for a different make buddy

I think thats a maasterplan buddy,
Ive found this on Cnet website, regarding a firmware update:- "Pre-N wireless These products use the current draft version of the 802.11n standard. Compatibility with other draft-n and current 802.11n products is guaranteed by the Wi-Fi Alliance. However, some features were added in later revisions of the spec, and it is possible that they will not work correctly. In most cases a firmware upgrade will solve any problems (consider if you feel confident performing such an update). Also, while 802.11n is designed to be backwards compatible with 802.11g, 802.11b and 802.11a, it had been noticed that -n can interfere with the operation of current 802.11b and g products." |
