If you are determined to buy a puter for one flash .. .. you are mad, but :

What

Old puter rather than new puter / desktop rather than lappie / WinXp rather than Vista or Win7

Why

Many older lappies will work with a 232 / USB dongle on WinXP. Many newer ones have driver trouble with 232 dongles
Almost all older desktops have COM ports and work natively rock solid to 232 / COM ports with a null-modem cable
A desktop can be had for coppers on flebay, search for nearest / collect only and you can pick one up for £20-30

Not much choice to buy one myself QinteQ, no one I know has an old desktop or any comp with the rs232 port and run winxp. Thanks for the buying advise.

You don't need to buy a new computer. If you have a old laptop or comp and if it doesn't have a rs232 port then go on fleebay and get a converter they work perfectly fine. I have never had a problem with them before.
