Default Bit of beginners help please

Hi guys, i have just signed up to the 50mb virgin media broadband in my new house. When i moved in, the last tenants seemed to have left there virgin media tv box and i had heard a couple of friends got there boxes chipped to view every channel.

After a bit of research it seems this cant be done anymore due to nagra 3 (tell me if im wrong). So i was just after a few answers:

1) Can the virgin media boxes still be flashed/chipped

2) Which boxes still work or is better, Starview or kryptview?

3) Will either of these boxes work with the Virgin Media cable line

4) If i was to buy one is it as simple as plug in and watch all channels, or does it involve a process to get it working.

please go easy on me and if i have missed some sort of sticky or guide that explains all this then i apologise now.

thanks.

1, no, you cant chip vm's boxes anymore.

2, thats down to your preference.

3, yes they will work if you have 50mb

4, you buy them as free to air only and flash them yourself

how long they will last is a debate which i dont like to get involed with. for either of the kv/sv you pays your cash and takes your chances.

you'll find a guide to flashing the box with google i would have thought, maybe even in our downloads area or in the threads here. not sure but you;ll get a guide somewhere

he said he has 50mb broadband. a 3rd party receiver will work on the same line as his cable modem.

i am aware how much bandwidth is needed.

Far as am aware is that you get all the channels from there XL package.

For that you can go on there site and have a look @ the XL package to see what is available.

Also just to add get a kv if you have to or even better learn how to remove BGA, its easy..Even the decrption process is relatively easy once you understand the encryption process..The hardest part is probably soldering the thing again in truth.
