*New* Dbox 2 queries

Hi all,

I myself have had a Sagem dbox 2 hooked up for the past 7 months or so and it works fine (apart from the usual small freezes etc).

My mate recently got one so I hooked it up for him. When going to scan there were only 2 options available, these were both CableUK options. When I go to scan on my dbox I have various options including telewestfreq, ntl, cableuk etc... Anyway I scanned 1 of them and got everything as normal and his box was working fine.

However last night he says he was watching sky movies and at around 1am got a phone call saying "Are you enjoying your sky?" He didn't know who this bloke was and replied "no, I don't have it". Anyway Alan my mate hung up on the guy who was being rather abrupt and nasty, though he received 3 more calls from him asking the same question. After that phone call his movie channels all went off??? He is now convinced he has been rumbled and is ewxpecting a knock at the door from the Telewest/Virgin media man.

Just wondered has anyone experienced anything similar?? And can Dboxes be traced by Virgin??

As I said before I've had no problems with mine, though I don't know much about dboxes and risks involved etc.. I just got mine, plugged it in and magic.

If anybody good give me any advice/help that would be appreciated.

Yep thats what I said but he claims he never told anyone about getting a dbox and says it wasn't a nightmare.

Not that I know of, he does however consume alot of vodka. Probably been drinking some knock off home made stuff??

Anyway the fact that everybody seems to be ridiculing him would lead me to think it wasn't a telewest/virgin media person. Plus I went round today and he has all of his channels and it works fine.
