im chipping my ps3 using the dummies guide
all going ok and than it says to download this
file stealth version for Kmeaw Custom Firmware ps3
im on 3.55 just want to make sure i get the right
file

Just follow this link, you only need the kmeaw 3.55 PS3UPDAT.PUP file which you can put on a FAT32 formatted USB and install it via the XMB (or the recovery menu if that fails).

There is absolutely no way to mod the ps3 with a chip and a soldering iron. The copy protection is hardwired into the hypervisor which is based in the CPU. You can't just bypass it like you could with the ps2.

Not a mod chip as such but you can downgrade from newer (3.7x) firmwares using ProgSkeet or Teensy ++ and then install CFW.
