pc probs it shuts down if i unplug my ethernet

Hi guys hope some 1 can help cause when i unplug my ethernet my pc just dies it shuts down an then trys to start but it just lights up abit an gose of and keeps doing also if i just turn the router of it gose off.it will restart if i unplug the power cable .and now i tryed to reinstall win 7 (incase it a virus) and just b4 it gets to the end of finalizing install it dies again like b4... sytem specs below

quad 6600
nvidia 480.
4 gig ram
asus p5k mobo
ocz 600 watt psu

I would suggest delete the ethernet card driver and install the latest driver again.

If there is other LAN cable, please swap the cable.

I used to see a PC with shorted LAN cable that shorts the LAN card and the mobo components and causing the system shut down.
Maybe your action unplugging the ethernet cable give the cable broken wire inside to touch each other and causing the short and thus shut down.
