Default pwr switch issue.

hey guys, I'm putting together a new pc, the motherboard is msi 870-G45.
When I first pieced it all together I wasn't getting any response to power up, so I pulled it all apart, left just the ram, cpu and cooler on the mobo, plugged the psu in and still couldn't get anything. I used a screwdriver across the pwr switch component and the boot process started. So, thinking great! I plugged the pwr switch into place and pressed the power button....nothing. I figured my power switch button/cable was faulty, however, I tried using the reset button switch/cable and still couldn't get a response. Any ideas?

I have a feeling its the wires on the Case which are faulty. cant be the Motherboard as they seem to power up when you used a screwdriver and it worked.

I would consider in getting your Case swapped as to me that seems like the culprit.

Thanks for your reply. I managed to stretch the pwr sw connector from another case to the mobo and it worked perfectly so it must be the case, a bit annoying with it being brand new, such a minor flaw. Completing the RMA now to get it replaced, not a happy chappie. Thanks for your help.

Sometimes we may need to connect the PWR or RST SW to the mobo using different orientation.

Worth a try even the problem solved now.

Hope this helps!
