No you cant, his account will now be closed, and the card in the box will be shut off, and seeing that the card is paired with that box it will not work, you can get FTA only, but probably will have a nag screen everytime you turn the channel.

Hi im not 100% sure but your card would not work in the box as they are paired to each box and the hd box is linked to your mates address plus its vm still own that box and might ask your mate to return it or charge him for it let's see if im right sure someone on here will have all the answer's.

No, cause only his viewing card will work in that box, your card wont.. He should really keep his HD box, cause Virgin own it and may ask for it back at any time (though they probably wont)

You could probably get an HD box yourself from Virgin anyway, and at no extra cost. Just ring them up to cancel your services, dont give in to any offers when you cancel, obtain a disconnection date, then hold out a few days untill 2nd line retentions call you (which they definately will do) You will be surprised how many freebies they throw at you to make you stay a Virgin customer.. I wangled a free activated V+HD box and a Broadband upgrade when I did it..

If what you changed in June involved a new contract starting then they would have told you that at the time and then sent a new contract to you in the post.. Normally just adding or removing services doesnt always mean starting a new 12 month contract..
