Ok here's the deal gotta clear spare room out of all my stuff, this includes my pc. Now I was thinking of going the laptop route to save space but I use my pc for encoding films, playing games and streaming 3d content to my tv, so I need a laptop capable of all that. My pc is a quad core 3ghz, nvidia graphics card 1gig, 640g hdd and some other drubbing that I haven't heard of.
So what I guess I'm asking is what should I consider getting, I have no clue about make, model or anything new cus my pc is well over 3 yrs old and I haven't looked since. I like the new Sony 3d jobby but that's just cus I saw it in the shop, I'm guessing the screen is a bit small for 3d though? Oh got about £1700 to spend so any help would be great.

Seeing as you have the money to spend, then why not look into getting a MAC as you would benefit more with a MAC.

I know you want to go the Laptop route but you could always look into sticking with a desktop and build yourself a really good machine with the amount of money have got spending wise mate. Edit: No point going for an I3 for that price when you can add more money and get a i5 or even a i7 machine.

Gotta be a laptop, I was looking on the Sony site but they all confuse the the hell out of me, I can see the i7 is better than the i3 but some upgrades are they really worth while.

With that kind of budget you can easily pick up almost any Asus gaming laptop from the Alienware product line. If you don't mind the styling, that is!
I also hear that the Acer Aspire 5750G is excellent. And as with all Acers, you can choose the configuration that best suits you (CPU, RAM, etc). £699 for the Core i7 version is not bad at all! And you'd still have £1000 left over for... I dunno, anything you want! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-i7-2630...dp/B004VE73L0/ Last edited by Procrastinator; 24-08-11 at 11:09 AM. |

Guess what im really trying to say is HELP!
Is the alienware m18x really that much better than the m17x r3 Is it really worth the extra money to upgrade from 6gig to 8gig memory Is it worth upgrading Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 2720QM (2.20Ghz, 6MB, 4C) to Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 2820QM (2.30Ghz, 8MB, 4C) and so on and so forth, now im not asking to be spoonfeed but thats some serious reading to do to catch up. So if any one has a spare 5 mins could they drop up their ultimate £1700 laptop designs i'd be very grateful.
