Default Sony Subwoofer.

Hello All,

After solving my media center issue i have an another small issue.
I have a sony sub woofer which is self powered.
Only the two speaker wires are coming out of it.(is this called passive sub?)
I need to connect it to a sony av receiver ( Sony STR DN 1000) where to plug it in?

Thanks in advance.

If your Sub is powered then its an Active sub (it has an amp built into it, so its active) Your sony 1000 thing has a Subwoofer output, but Im not sure if thats for connecting to a passive or active sub, I guess the manual might reveal the answer, although at a guess I would say its for connecting to an active sub..

You have a Passive Sub then, Im pretty sure your Sony units Sub Output is for connecting to an Active Sub... However, if you connect decent full range HiFi speakers then it will still sound a whole lot better than cheapo surround systems that use small little speakers and a single Sub for the bass.. You'll still be able to knock nextdoors pictures off their walls..
