Some of you may have noticed I made a post a while ago, I have purchased a new LG 32" TV with two HDMI ports, I have a home cinema system with 1 HDMI port and a PS3 with one HDMI port, if I connect both items two my TV with seperate HDMI cables and my sky box to my home cinema with a RAC cable, will my PS3 and sky play through my surround sound?
Thanks in advance

Because you have any other device that you planing to connect via RCA to the home cinema then you will be swapping each time. Which am sure you want to avoid doing that. Unless you get hold of them old EQ. Otherwise look into getting a digital AMP. Connecting VIA RCA will only give you Stereo Output and not surround 5.1 etc. if you connect it via RCA then yes the sound will come out from your Home cinema.

you need to connect it your Home cinema system in order for the output to come out of your surround sound. if you don't connect it then it wont work. HDMI has the ability to carry sound and picture. So if you connected a HDMI to your TV then you will get Surround Sound.. As long as the TV supports that or has extra speaks built in for that. however if your Home cinema system has HDMI connection. Then HDMI alone can do the job for distributing Surround sound. If your home cinema system has no HDMI and only has RCA or SPDIF / Optical out then you need to decide which route you want to take. Taking into consideration do you want stereo or Surround. @ the same time you need to check the connectors on your PS 3 as well. Does it have the same connections as my Home cinema ? i.e RCA or Optical.

because if you connect the Home cinema via HDMI to PS 3 that's fine but when you want to watch a movie you will need to connect it to TV Which would mean that you would need to keep swapping them around each time. So to avoid that you better of getting a HDMI switch / Splitter or what ever they call it. You can connect your Sky box via RCA and the sound will come out from the Home cinema system.
