hi all,posting this for my brother in law his acer aspire 5338 was ok this morning then went to use it again and it wouldn't boot up,then it came on but no screen,he then noticed it was on but very faint,he then connected it to the tv and its working fine,is it likely the screen has gone or does it have back light that may have gone?

I'd have a look at replacing the back light before replacing the full screen.

most likely the inverter that has gone defect.. because when you shine a bright light to it you would notice the same thing. I.e some sorta picture
