Default Cleaning cooling fan in Laptop

My Laptop gets really hot underneath when its on, how easy would it be to take the bottom off and clean the cooling fan and hopefully cool it down a bit.

if your confident in taking the laptop apart then its advice able that you get a compressed Air Canister and then use that to clean the vents and the fans.

The canisters are expensive and roughly cost around £10 which you can get from Ebay

CPU fan cleaning is not hard @ all as there is a compartment under the laptop, which will give you access to the Fan & Heat sink.

But this is all down to which laptop you have mate.

My advice would be, dont use compressed air on a Laptop... Its fine in a PC case where you can slip the side panel off easilly and blow the crud out from within, but on a Laptop, if you just blast air in from the outside all you could end up doing is blowing the crud deeper inside... In my opinion, you're best doing a little dissasembly and doing the job properly.. On most laptops you would remove the keyboard and top palmrest surround plastics to gain access to the heatsink/fan assy and a clear shot at cleaning out the fan blades and heatsink exit fins properly. In most laptops you dont even need to take the heatsink off the CPU, so its all relatively straight forward, you just have to be really careful taking it apart, theres usually very short and fragile connecting cables & ribbons..

Alternative method of cleaning the Fan would be to use some Alcohol (Vodka) and cotton buds. It works like a charm.

Method I use when taking apart a laptop.

When you dis mantle the laptop its a very good idea to get some kind of a tray which has separators and label the screws for each sections.

So when you put it back @ least you will know that each screw fits in perfectly. Because I have had issues with this in past.
