Hi,
Can anyone help a Newbie? I've had a Freeview TV for 3 years and have had no probs up till now. I went away for 2 weeks and switched the TV off from the mains socket before I left. On my return last Saturday I have lost all blue colour from all DTV transmissions (all the analogues are full RGB)... I've checked the aerial cables inside my flat (using previously unused cables) to ensure mice haven't nibbled through them, I've checked scart lead/axel connections and this has made no difference to the RGB problem. I'm suspecting my aerial in my neighbours top floor flat (not great access there then) may be the cause or they may have bought something that has changed my reception... Has anyone else come across this problem? I feel I'm going slightly mad! regards Bob66 |

Try going into tv menu and or freeview box and check your settings, are you sure it should be set on RGB and not Composite or CVBS if your using scart leads, It might have set back to default when its been switched off or you may have had a power cut etc.

You say Freeview TV and also mention Scarts leads?? Are you connecting a Freeview box to a TV with scart leads? Or is it a TV with freeview built in?

It's a TV with in-built Freeview (I mention the scart leads as this is the method with which I've connected an HD recorder and separate DVD player to the TV)...
I've tried, as suggested by Reddiesel, to check the colour settings but this 3 year old JVC hasn't got an option to check the colour setting (apart from the usual hue, brightness, warmer/cooler)... |

So is it just freeview giving this problem on this TV? But the TV displays analog transmissions ok? Does it display scart connected devices ok too?

yes; it's only Freeview (DTV)
I've just tried watching a pre-recorded programme on my HD recorder and this is perfect colour playback. I've just tried the cable TV link to Virgin Media and this is perfect colour too. It's only digital viewing real-time... I've just tried resetting to factory settings and this hasn't made any difference to the colour i.e. it's still only showing red and green... |

Sounds like the DTV Tuners Mpeg decoder has gone faulty.. Probably gonna need a board repair or replacement.. sorry.. You could take the back off and see if reseating any PCB board connectors rectifies it (unplugged from the mains first of course)

I've just tried to record a programme on to my HD recorder and there's no playback of sound so I presume that this denotes that something has definitely happened to the mpeg decoder / freeview board / main board... this is too complicated for me so I will refer to some local shops/engineers/service agents...
thanks again.... |
