Hi folks, got a laptop to try and fix for a friend, everytime i turn it on i get the above error, and black screen, now and again windows tries to start and gives me the option for safe mode, but tried that and still get same error, the F2 set and F12 boot flash up, but have tried pressing to try and instal new windows 7 disc, no joy there either, also downloaded COMCTL32.dll on to flash drive and put it in the laptop but cant seem to get anywhere with it, just keeps repeating same error, driving me nuts, can anyone advice me on where i should go next with this, any help much appreciated, thanks

Rather then using a flash drive. Burn the ISO onto the cd and then set the first boot device to cd Rom and if that don't work then use another cd / ISO and then try it.
Also if you can try and use another dvd drive and see if the problem persists Back up all data first either using a caddy etc If your using Windows 7 then u can Use the repair option. On Windows xp u can go into the recovery console via booting from cd and repairing windows. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 |

Have you got a external Rom drive that u can connect via USB? if yes then use that and boot up using the USB method from the Bios as First Priority you should be able to enter the BIOS / Boot Menu unless your Motherboard is damaged which I find hard to believe if you ask me. So in which case your doing something wrong. Taking out the Rom drive from a laptop is not difficult @ all. Seeing as your not experienced, then I would suggest you get a Dissaembly guide or check on you-tube on how to replace the drive. |
