Openbox S10 doesn’t see external hard drive

Hi Folks, my Openbox S10 HD PVR is working fine but when I add a Samsung 1Tb HX-MU010EA/G2, USB2 powered, external hard drive it doesn’t see it when I go to Menu/Media. None of the 3 options on the screen light up. If I insert a memory stick all 3 options light up. The drive works when connected to my laptop. The box does provide power to the hard drive because the blue light on the drive blinks when connected.

Any ideas as to why the Openbox doesn’t see my external hard drive?

It could be the Openbox doesnt support that size drive, or it could well be the drive isnt getting enough power from the openbox.. Do you have a shorter compatible usb lead you could try...

Hi nibblitz, I think you might be right about the power. I attached my western digital 1Tb backup drive, with mains power, and a longer USB cable and the box sees it. I'm now transferring all the backup data from one drive to the other and will try my wd drive as a pvr later tonight when it finished copying. Thanks

Hi,
Did you have any joy with the Western Digital Drive. I have a WD Elements 1TB drive, and the openbox sees it, but whenever i try to record anything, the record icon flashes when i press record, but when i try to stop the recording the box has frozen and is completely unresponsive to the remote. I have to turn the box off at the back. I have just installed the latest firmware hoping that would help but still the same.
Any ideas?

Can you view movies stored on the hard drive or usb stick on the openbox s9?
